Description

This ABL8 regulated switch mode power supply (SMPS) supplies direct current voltage. It has a rated input of 100V to 240V AC, a rated output current of 5A at 24V DC and a rated power output of 120W. It is ideal for supplying DC voltage necessary for automation equipment designed for applications in industrial, commercial and residential applications such as conveying, packaging, control, food & beverage, mining, oil & gas and water. It installs on DIN rail and is 27mm-wide. Automatic reset allows short-term faults to be cleared and systems to restart without the need to disturb on-duty maintenance engineers. It provides a power reserve allowing to deliver a current of 150% its nominal rating for a short time allows handling of simultaneous inrush current when starting a process. It weighs 1,000kg. It is a power supply for industrial use, rail mounting. It conforms to UL 508, CSA C22.2 No 60950-1 standards. The GB2CB08, GB2CD08, GB2DB08, GB2CS08, GB2CB07, GB2CD07, GB2DB07 and GB2CS07 thermal-magnetic circuit breakers are recommanded for its protection. It has LED diagnostics indicator available in the front for troubleshooting instantly. It installs on DIN rail. The ABL8MEM/ABL7RM (modular) range meets all the needs of simple automation systems with power ratings from 7 to 60 W and an output voltage of 5 V DC, 12 V DC, or 24V DC.

Performance Curves

Regulated Switch Mode Power Supplies
Derating

The ambient temperature is a determining factor that limits the power an electronic power supply can deliver continuously. If the temperature around the electronic components is too high, their life will be significantly reduced.

The nominal ambient temperature for the Optimum range of Phaseo power supplies is 50 °C. Above this temperature, derating is necessary up to a maximum temperature of 60 °C.

The graph below shows the power as a percentage of the nominal power that the power supply can deliver continuously, depending on the ambient temperature.

X Maximum operating temperature (°C)

(1) ABL 8REM, ABL 7RP mounted vertically

Derating should be considered in extreme operating conditions:

  • Intensive operation (output current permanently close to the nominal current, combined with a high ambient temperature)

  • Output voltage set above 24 Vdc (to compensate for line voltage drops, for example)

  • Parallel connection to increase the total power
